Established in 1984 with donations from Bury Council and the late Mrs. Templeton, Farraday House is situated between Tottington and Bury town centre, with frequent bus links to each. We are lucky enough to have a bus stop located just a few metres away from the house, as well as several local shops just a short walk away.
In the picturesque village of Tottington, you’ll find a selection of restaurants and cafes, supermarket, Post Office, GPs, and a variety of independent shops. Bury town centre has a Metrolink tram service to take you to Manchester with links to Rochdale and Oldham and also boasts a steam railway line, The East Lancs railway, hosting many themed events that are extremely popular.
For those looking for companionship, you will find our residents in the conservatory in the mornings reading the daily newspapers, or join other residents in the communal lounge, which has a large selection of books and jigsaws. Spend time in our beautifully landscaped gardens – the perfect place to meet and catch up with fellow residents, family or friends.
We understand the importance of providing a range of activities for our residents as it benefits health and well-being and makes them happy. The activities at Farraday House include coffee mornings, bingo and armchair aerobics. Every few months we have sales come and visit us where residents can buy gifts and clothes. Residents from both houses, Farraday House in Bury and Farraday House in Radcliffe attend our events, great for socialising and meeting new friends.
We also love to organise trips out, which have recently included a trip to The Elgin Hotel in Blackpool. Each year we hold a Christmas party and garden party in the summer which are perfect events to invite family and friends to. We also invite performers or choirs to come and sing for our residents.
Farraday House in Bury offers two types of accommodation; 13 sheltered living studios and 12 independent living apartments. Our service is unique as we offer laundry and cleaning services, as well as three meals a day for our sheltered living residents.
In our sheltered living studios, you’ll get a fitted wardrobe, kitchenette with microwave and under counter fridge and an en-suite bathroom with level access shower. Our new independent living apartments contain a fully tiled wet room, open plan lounge, kitchen and separate bedroom. Personalise your rooms with your own furniture and belongings to make you feel at home.
Situated in the small market town of Radcliffe, Farraday House Radcliffe is a real home from home with dedicated, professional and caring staff who provide a cosy, warm and happy environment for all residents.
With eight studio apartments, we can easily accommodate our residents’ needs and our staff dedicate lots of time really getting to know you on an individual level. We have recently upgraded our residents’ rooms, fitted a new staff kitchen, a new disabled WC and added new furniture in the communal lounge and dining room.
